PCA Accreditation Scope Update — New Methods in Workplace and Environmental Air

Following a successful assessment by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA), the new edition of OIKOS’s accreditation scope under PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 is in force. Several new methods have been added across workplace air and general environmental air — broadening what we can test under the AB 934 scope.

Workplace air — added analytes

Air samples collected on sorbent tubes:

  • 1-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (CAS 2687-91-4)
  • tert-butyl methyl ether — MTBE (CAS 1634-04-4)

Air samples collected on filters:

  • Hydrogen bromide / hydrobromic acid (CAS 10035-10-6)
  • Ammonium sulfamate — inhalable fraction (CAS 7773-06-0)
  • Ammonium chloride vapours and inhalable fraction (CAS 12125-02-9)
  • Potassium bromate(V) — inhalable fraction (CAS 7758-01-2)

General environmental air — added analytes

Atmospheric samples on sorbent tubes: 1-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone, tert-butyl ethyl ether, MTBE, 2-methoxypropyl acetate, ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate, 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, chloroethene (vinyl chloride), 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane (epichlorohydrin), 4-hydroxy-4-methylpentan-2-one (diacetone alcohol), xylene isomers, 2,2′-iminobis(ethylamine) (DETA), N,N′-bis(2-aminoethyl)ethylenediamine (TETA).

Atmospheric samples on filters: highly refined mineral oils (inhalable fraction), sulfuric acid VI (thoracic fraction), ammonium sulfamate, ammonium chloride vapours and inhalable fraction.

What this means for clients

Several of these analytes are difficult to source in the Polish market — particularly the pyrrolidones, the polyamines TETA and DETA, and the chlorinated epoxide compounds. Bringing them under accreditation means we can issue reports that are accepted by Polish regulators and recognised across the EA Mutual Recognition Arrangement, without having to subcontract.

If you operate a process where any of the new analytes are released — chemical synthesis, polymer production, surface coating, hot-melt adhesives, refrigeration or certain pharmaceutical workflows — get in touch and we will scope the measurement programme.
