Accredited Workplace Noise Measurements
Workplace noise measurements determine daily noise exposure (LEX,8h), weekly exposure (LEX,w) and peak C-weighted sound pressure level (LCpeak) — parameters required by the regulation on maximum admissible intensities (NDN). OIKOS performs measurements for machine operator workstations, production lines, industrial hall positions and all locations where noise levels may exceed the action values of 80 dB(A) or 135 dB(C). Reports are issued under PCA accreditation No. AB 934 (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025) and accepted by the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP).
Why OIKOS for Workplace Noise
Three reasons our workplace noise measurements stand out — including independently verified competence under PT 010 accreditation:
- AB 934-accredited results — accepted by the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP)
- Hearing protector selection with octave-band analysis — not just a result, but a ready recommendation
- We run PT-H — the proficiency testing programme for laboratories performing noise measurements
From Exposure Measurement to Hearing Protector Selection
As part of comprehensive service, OIKOS also provides hearing protector selection — based on octave-band noise spectrum measurements using SNR, HML or Octave Band methods. The result is not just a number: you receive a specific recommendation on the protection class required, directly translating into legal compliance and effective worker hearing protection.
OIKOS is one of the few laboratories in the region organising the PT-H (workplace noise) and PT-EH (environmental noise) proficiency testing programmes under PT 010 accreditation. This means our noise measurement competence is independently verified by PCA — not only through audits, but also through inter-laboratory result comparisons in proficiency programmes.

FAQ
Workplace Noise Questions
How often must workplace noise measurements be conducted?
At least every 2 years when exposure is between 0.2–1.0 of the limit value; at least annually when the limit is exceeded. First measurements must be taken within 30 days of starting a new workstation or changing working conditions.
What are the NDN threshold values for noise in Poland?
Lower action value: LEX,8h = 80 dB(A), LCpeak = 135 dB(C). Upper action value: LEX,8h = 85 dB(A), LCpeak = 137 dB(C). Limit value (NDN): LEX,8h = 85 dB(A), LCpeak = 137 dB(C) for the general workforce.
Does OIKOS also perform hearing protector selection?
Yes — hearing protector selection is performed based on octave-band noise spectrum measurements. We apply the SNR, HML and Octave Band methods. The result specifies which types of protectors provide the required attenuation effectiveness.
