Accredited Measurements of Harmful Workplace Factors
Polish labour law requires employers to conduct regular measurements of occupational exposure to harmful and bothersome factors. OIKOS covers the full PCA-accredited spectrum — from noise, dust and vibration to unique chemical determinations such as formamide, TETA, DETA and diisocyanates that few competitor laboratories can deliver. Reports are accepted by the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP) and other regulators in legally regulated areas; sampling is performed on-site by the same specialists who analyse the samples in our laboratory.
What We Measure at Your Workplace
Nine accredited measurement areas — coordinated under one quote, one sampling visit and one report wherever your facility is located:

Chemical and Dust Agents
Accredited measurement of chemical substances and dust at workplaces (GC-FID, HPLC, IC, MP-AES). Results ready for occupational exposure assessment and HSE documentation.
Noise at the Workplace
Direct measurement of occupational noise per PN-EN ISO 9612 — A-weighted equivalent and C-weighted peak levels. Basis for risk assessment and MAL documentation.
Mechanical Vibration
Hand-arm (HAV) and whole-body (WBV) vibration measurement per PN-EN ISO 5349 and PN-EN ISO 2631. For hand-tool operators, drivers, and machine operators.
Asbestos and Mineral Fibres
Respirable fibre concentration measurement by phase-contrast microscopy (PCM) and asbestos material identification. For facilities before, during, and after asbestos work.
Electrical Lighting
Illuminance and uniformity measurement at workplaces per PN-EN 12464-1. Verification of compliance with requirements for the visual-task category.
Thermal Microclimate
WBGT (hot), PMV/PPD (moderate), and IREQ (cold) indices at workplaces. Basis for assessing thermal load on workers.
Occupational Risk Assessment & HSE Audit
Occupational risk assessment by PN-N-18002 (Risk Score) based on OIKOS accredited measurements. HSE audit with workplace observation and documentation review.
Electromagnetic Fields
Electric and magnetic field strength and power density measurement in the 0 Hz to 300 GHz range. For workplaces near transmitters, transformers, medical and industrial sources.
Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Preparation and updating of safety data sheets for chemical substances and mixtures per REACH (Annex II) and CLP. Advisory and documentation service.
Substances Few Laboratories Can Measure
OIKOS routinely measures workplace substances that competitor laboratories in our region cannot determine — formamide (chemical, pharmaceutical and synthetic fibre industries), TETA and DETA (epoxy resin hardeners used in marine, construction and composite manufacturing), and diisocyanates TDI and MDI (polyurethane foam, adhesive and paint production). These determinations are part of our AB 934 accreditation scope and follow reference methods accepted by the National Labour Inspectorate.
For asbestos and mineral fibres, we apply the PCM method covering both chrysotile, crocidolite and amosite asbestos and man-made mineral fibres (MMVF) — including air monitoring during asbestos removal works and post-removal clearance testing. The same laboratory measures inhalable and respirable dust fractions, octave-band noise spectra for hearing protector selection, and HAV/WBV vibration on power tools and vehicle seats — all under a single accreditation and a single coordinated report.
Methods & Instruments
Methods
Full range of analytical and measurement methods within AB 934 accreditation scope: gas chromatography with flame ionisation detection (GC-FID), high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence and spectrophotometric detection (HPLC-FLD, HPLC-UV), ion chromatography (IC), microwave plasma atomic emission spectrometry (MP-AES), gravimetry, sonometry, vibrometry, illuminance measurement, phase-contrast microscopy (PCM), and electromagnetic field measurements.
Instruments
Gas and liquid chromatographs, MP-AES spectrometer, Class 1 sound level meters, triaxial vibration meters (HAV/WBV), microclimate meters (WBGT, PMV/PPD), Class A/B luxmeters, optical microscopes, broadband EMF meters with E/H field probes, personal and stationary samplers.
Reference documents
PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025; specific reference standards for each agent listed in the AB 934 Laboratory Activity Scope.

FAQ
Workplace Measurement Questions
How often must workplace measurements be performed in Poland?
First measurements are required within 30 days of opening a new workstation or changing process conditions. Repeat measurements are required at least every two years when exposure is between 0.2 and 1.0 of the limit value (NDS/NDN), and at least annually when the limit value is exceeded. The exact schedule depends on the factor measured and the regulation applicable to your industry.
Which factors are mandatory to measure at our facility?
It depends on the factors actually present at your workstations. A workplace risk assessment identifies which agents must be measured — typically noise, dust and chemicals at minimum, plus vibration, microclimate, lighting or EMF wherever the process or equipment generates them. We can help you determine the required measurement scope before you order — send us your activity description or current risk assessment.
Can OIKOS perform all required measurements in a single site visit?
In most cases, yes. We coordinate noise, vibration, microclimate, lighting, EMF and chemical sampling within a single visit whenever the measurement methods allow it — reducing your downtime and simplifying documentation. Some measurements (e.g. extended chemical sampling, asbestos during removal works) require dedicated visits and are scheduled separately.
Are your reports accepted during a National Labour Inspectorate audit?
Yes. Our reports carry the AB 934 accreditation symbol and follow reference methods accepted by the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP) and other regulators in legally regulated areas. Each report includes the applied method, measurement uncertainty and a clear assessment against the relevant Polish exposure limit values (NDS/NDN).
