Occupational Risk Assessment & BHP Audit
Occupational risk assessment is a legal obligation for every employer under the Labour Code (Article 226) and the Minister of Health regulation. OIKOS performs risk assessments for workstations based on environmental measurement results (noise, dust, chemicals, vibration, lighting) combined with analysis of work processes, machinery, chemical substances and biological agents. The output is documentation meeting legal requirements — with risk level assessment and corrective action recommendations.
Why OIKOS for Risk Assessment
Four reasons OIKOS is the most efficient supplier for occupational risk and BHP documentation:
- Measurements + documentation from one supplier — eliminates coordination between laboratories and OHS firms
- Ergonomics specialist on staff — energy expenditure assessment from work-day observation
- 35+ years of BHP audit experience — thorough knowledge of Labour Inspectorate and Minister of Health regulations
- Legal compliance assessment — not just results, but a clear answer: what requires action
Risk Assessment, Workplace Audit & Energy Expenditure
The workplace audit (conducted under the Minister of Health regulation) is a comprehensive assessment of working conditions at the facility — covering an inventory of exposed workstations, verification of measurement currency, review of OHS documentation and priority action recommendations.
Energy expenditure assessment, conducted by the OIKOS ergonomics specialist, is based on work-day observation and direct filming at the client’s facility. It is particularly important for heavy and demanding physical work (construction, foundry, warehousing), where results directly affect break scheduling, work clothing specification and risk assessment.
OIKOS has been operating since 1988, serving over 1,000 clients. Our permanent expert team includes a provincial environmental impact assessment expert, a PCBC auditor and technical expert, an ergonomics and energy expenditure specialist, and a PARP-accredited OHS assessor.

FAQ
Risk Assessment & Audit Questions
Is occupational risk assessment legally required in Poland?
Yes — Article 226 of the Labour Code obliges every employer to assess and document occupational risk at each workstation. Absence of a current risk assessment is one of the most frequently cited violations by the National Labour Inspectorate.
How often must the occupational risk assessment be updated?
The risk assessment has no statutory update frequency — it should, however, be reviewed with every change in the work process, introduction of a new substance, change in machinery or change in legal requirements. In practice, a review is recommended every 2–3 years or after a workplace accident.
What is energy expenditure assessment and who needs it?
Energy expenditure assessment determines how much energy a worker consumes during work — based on activity observation and work-day filming. It is required for heavy and demanding physical work (e.g. construction, foundry, warehousing) and informs rest break scheduling, nutritional standards and working condition assessment. OIKOS has an ergonomics specialist who prepares these assessments.
