Accredited Lighting Acceptance Testing
A newly installed lighting system must comply with PN-EN 12464-1 “Light and lighting — Lighting of work places” and the lighting design specification. The key parameters subject to evaluation are illuminance (in lux) at the working plane and the uniformity ratio (Uo) in each zone and at individual workstations. OIKOS performs photometric measurements under PCA accreditation No. AB 934 (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025) — and is the only organisation in the region that organises accredited proficiency testing for lighting measurements (PT 010).
Why OIKOS for Lighting Acceptance
Four reasons our lighting acceptance testing stands out — including the only PT-OS organiser in the region:
- AB 934 accreditation covers illuminance measurements — results recognised by labour inspectorates and building supervision authorities
- OIKOS is the only organisation in the region that organises accredited proficiency testing for lighting (PT 010) — the highest confirmed level of metrological competence
- Compliance verification against both PN-EN 12464-1 and the project specification — report ready for electrical installation acceptance
- Early detection of deviations from design allows correction before the contractor's warranty period expires
Grid-Pattern Photometric Measurement vs Design
OIKOS carries out photometric measurements on a grid layout covering all required measurement zones in accordance with the design documentation. Results are compared against the values required by PN-EN 12464-1 and the facility’s lighting design specification, and any deviations identified are stated explicitly in the report.
The lighting acceptance test report documents the installation’s compliance with legal and normative requirements and can serve as the basis for acceptance of the facility by the investor or for fulfilment of requirements set by the National Labour Inspectorate.
OIKOS has been performing lighting measurements since 1988. As one of the few accredited proficiency testing organiser for lighting measurements in the region (PT 010), OIKOS verifies the competence of other laboratories — the strongest possible evidence of our own metrological competence.

FAQ
Lighting Acceptance Questions
Is lighting acceptance testing required by law?
Yes. The Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy on general OHS regulations imposes an obligation to provide adequate lighting at workstations in accordance with Polish Standards. Acceptance measurements after installation document fulfilment of these requirements before employees begin work.
What standard governs workplace lighting in Poland?
The primary standard governing indoor workplace lighting is PN-EN 12464-1. It specifies minimum illuminance values, uniformity ratio (Uo), and other photometric parameters for different types of spaces and visual tasks.
What happens if the lighting installation does not meet the standard?
In the report we identify all parameters that do not meet PN-EN 12464-1 or design requirements. On this basis you or the installation contractor can take corrective action (e.g. replacement of luminaires, repositioning, adjustment) before the final acceptance of the facility.
